Friday Fish Fry
December 8th, 2023 by Proprietor
Back in 2016, Florence Henderson, Carol Brady died. She was part of a big part of my childhood. I used to sit and watch the Brady Bunch in syndication, and loved it. Even as a grew into adulthood, if the Brady Bunch was on, I would watch whatever episode was playing. When the DVD sets came out, I purchased them, and watched them. Then the complete shag edition came out, I bought that. When the set came to my house, I started to feel nostalgic, and noticed things in the show. I began blogging. Just my observations, and some snarky comments about episodes and characters.
For about a year, every three or four days, I posted a new blog. The last Brady blog was published in 2018. As my site evolved, my blogging diminished, and I just reposted videos from my YouTube channel. At some point, I was trying to review my old blogs on the Brady Bunch, because the writing was not bad. I intended to make a link page with all the posts a permanent part of the website. Unfortunately there are limitations to the search function of WordPress, and if you go to the Brady Category, you get maybe the last six blogs. I thought for sure the blogs were lost forever.
Then I was searching through files of an old computer harddrive I had backed up. I found a folder containing the blog posts. Actually I found a folder for the blog posts, but it contained one text file. The text file contained links to all of my Brady posts. When I posted a Brady blog, I copied a direct URL link onto the text page, in order of publishing. Because I actually linked back to previous posts. It was easier to have the direct URL to the post for linking in the text. Me five or so years ago was a genius. I had created an archive of direct URL links to my blogs for quick reference and linking. This included the original post about Florence Henderson, and the final Brady blog. My ultimate intent was if I went back to blogging about Brady or anything referencing previous Brady blog posts, I had the links.
Because I had these links, I decided to create the link page, with links to all the blogs, and put it as a permanent part of the website. I am republishing Bagboy and my comic Shots!, might even bring back my slideshow toy comic.

Collecting Something
January 26th, 2020 by Proprietor
As stated in a previous post, I am essentially done with comic books. For over three decades of my life, nearly four decades, I collected comics. Changes in creative directions, and ultimately the cancelling of the one series I read, Walking Dead, ended my comic collecting.
Throughout my entire life, I have collected many things. Action figures, sports cards, none sport cards, gaming cards (magic the gathering), blackjack chips, and many other things. I have sold off most of those other collections completely or to a point where there is very little left. Comic books were the one constant. Even after selling off nearly ninety percent of my collection, I was still collecting. Now I am done with that. The comics I want to keep are in small boxes in a closet. The comics I do not care about are in small boxes on a pallet in the basement. I will eventually get rid of them.
Collecting can be an odd obsession or quirk. At this point, I am collecting video games. Since I play video games as a hobby, and record my play for posting on my YouTube channel (link in the upper bar of this website), it makes some sense. I have an Xbox 360, since a new Xbox system is coming out at the end of 2020, I will skip to that system. It will be backward compatible.
Another little collection is my Funko Pops. I started with Davos Seaworth and Tormund Giantsbane, two characters I liked in Game of Thrones. Suddenly I have fifteen. Seven of which are Brady Bunch related. I did an unboxing of getting the six figures a while back (video below). I did find the Jan figure with George Glass.
Due to streaming services not always carrying certain movies or television shows, as well as possible editing of digital content, I have started collecting DVD & Blu-Rays of shows. Do not get rid of your physical media folks. It may be the only way to watch some shows or movies in the future. Companies will often repackage movies or television shows, which are edited or missing. check entertainment app for pc.

Unboxing of the Brady Bunch Funko Pops collection. Enjoy them, but there is one disappointment.
Hulu Top 10
December 12th, 2018 by Proprietor
It is nearing the end of the year, and everyone starts releasing a top 10 list. This year, I decided to do a top ten list of what I watched on Hulu throughout the year.
My criteria was basic. Did I watch the show more than once over the year or did I binge watch the show. Also, did I actually enjoy what I was watching. My filters lead to some interesting results. The order in which I am posting the shows has nothing to do with favorability. I just needed to put some order to the list.

1. I, Tonya: Not a show, but a movie. The second this movie came to Hulu, I watched it. I even wrote a post about the movie. This movie was dark humor, and a mocku-mentary that was awesome. It has sort of become a go-to watch for me. In other words, if there is nothing I am interested in watching, I will go to this movie. It is still a good watch, even for the fourth time I have watched it.
2. The Venture Bros: I have a tendency to want to watch cartoons during Saturday Morning. I grew up on Saturday Morning Cartoons. I started watching the Venture Bros and it was good. It filled my desire for a Saturday Morning Cartoon, and it was a parody of some of the old cartoons I used to watch. I am of the opinion that The Monarch and Doctor Venture are somehow related. Related genetically. Either half brothers or clones, since it is their constant battle that seems to be the main focus of the show.
3. Archer: Another form of Saturday Morning Cartoon watching. The show grasped me in the way that the main character was so self centered, detached, and yet successful. I spent several months of Saturdays binge watching the cartoon, and rotate it with the other cartoons on this list in regards to watching it on Saturday.
4. Rock of Love (1-3): The entire three seasons of this show, which I own on iTunes from the Apple Store, was available on Hulu to watch. The important part, the show was un-edited! This meant, I could hear the curse words, AND YES! See boobies. Some of the women on the show had spectacular bodies, and to cover up certain parts with black bars was distracting. The un-edited aspects appealed instantly to my puritanical interests. Plus I thoroughly enjoyed the “of love” type shows, when VH1 had broadcast them, even edited with words being censored with noise or body parts being covered with black bars.
5. Daisy of Love: A spin off show from the #4 spot. Again it is un-edited, so there is some appeal. I have re-watched the show multiple times, just for something to watch, because a lot of the current offerings on broadcast television networks is so unappealing.

6. Brady Bunch: Yes, Hulu does not have all the episodes available, but all the seasons are available. I have the Shag Rug Collectors Edition of the Brady Bunch, but it is so much easier to just stream on Hulu, rather than take a disk, put it into the Blu-Ray player, click play all, and watch the episodes. I have written numerous, over 50, blog posts about the show, and my love for it only grows.
7. The Curse Of Oak Island: I am familiar with the story of Oak Island through various crypto sites, and shows, so the availability of watching this show on Hulu immediately intrigued me. I binge watched the first season through the fourth season, and now season five is available, so I am watching that.
8. Storage Wars: Even though I feel this show has essentially Jumped The Shark, it is better than a lot of shows available to watch. New seasons have become available on Hulu, so I have returned to binge watching the show. Yuuupe!
9. Rick And Morty: Another form of Saturday Morning Cartoon concept, that I blogged about. When I finish with Archer or Venture Bros., I watch all the available episodes of Rick & Morty. Reviewing the cartoon gives me greater appreciation for the details.
10. F*ck, That’s Delicious: A Hulu original, produced by Viceland, the show was interesting, and I watched the episodes. Then I went back, and watched them again. I love good food, and exotic food, that is why this show appealed to me. The way everything is presented, the main host, Action Branson seems to enjoy two things, smoking pot & eating.
That is my top ten for this year. As always, thanks for stopping by.
Age Brady Children
October 17th, 2018 by Proprietor
In a previous post, I posited that Mike and Carol could have had a child even near the end of the final season, because of their ages. I used the ages of the two oldest children Greg and Marcia to deduce the age of Mike and Carol. The producers chose the ages of the children for various plot reasons. Greg was 14 at the start of the show, Marcia was 12, Peter was 11, Jan was 10, Bobby was 8, and Cindy was 6. These ages reflected some of their behaviors toward each other, and the grouping of three in the tween area allowed for growth. Unfortunately with all child actors, especially in the case of Bobby and Cindy, cuteness wears off. Look at the final season where Bobby had braces, and Cindy was no longer a cute little girl with a lisp and thus could not pull off cute little girl things. Carol Brady being pregnant would have been more conductive to the show being extended for another season than mocking pregnancy to introduce Cousin Oliver.
Greg being the oldest would have the most ground breaking moments. Greg was looking to buy a car, and got a job as an office boy in the architectural firm with a homicidal boss. The following year Greg entered high school and because he was a man wanted his own space. In the Episode “Our Son, The Man“, Greg persuaded Mike into giving up his den in order for it to be converted to a bedroom. Marcia being two years behind Greg would fuel her own form of competition, since she was no longer the oldest in the family. Her drive to be queen bee of the Brady girls got her into various forms of trouble. Marcia wanted to be a scout to prove she was as good as the boys, thus forcing retaliation, because Greg was too old, Peter was forced by his older brother into becoming a Sunflower Girl. Peter was the middle child between Greg, now Marcia, and then Jan, Bobby and Cindy. Jan seemed to not identify too much with Greg, but felt like she was second to Marcia all the time. Bobby being the youngest boy always sought attention from Greg, pestered Peter constantly, but at least could be a hero to Cindy. Cindy was always wanting to be older than she was.
Through out the entire Brady Bunch run, the children grew up. Greg always maintaining his top dog status, though he was at times taken down a peg or two by his younger siblings. It seemed Marcia was always his foil, except Jan seemed to be able to compete on an even field once Jan began developing lady bumps. Greg was graduating high school and heading to college in the last episode of the show. Which means Jan began working at Haskell’s Ice Cream Parlor at 14, maybe 15. Which makes the Brady children exceptionally ambitious when it comes to work. Also, you should feel dirty if you are lusting after Marcia and Jan in their bikinis during the Hawaii Episode, Marcia was 15 and Jan 13.

Schooling was a big deal with the Brady Bunch. Westdale High School, Fillmore Junior High, and Clinton Elementary School were the schools attended by the children. Ultimately they all went to different colleges, and entered careers. Greg became a OB/GYN, Marcia was a fashion designer until she married because she could not stand the thought of Jan beating her to the alter, then Marcia became an alcoholic housewife. Jan became an architect in Boston, married to a professor. Peter went into the Air Force, then became a stock broker. Bobby went to college, graduated, was going for a masters in business, but dropped out to become a race car driver, then ended up in a wheelchair. Cindy managed to graduate college, and worked for a radio station.
Ultimately, the Brady children fell into a sort of age dynamic which played out in their adult lives. Greg being the oldest, was the most successful. Even though Marcia was the oldest girl, she was second child, and was not as successful. Peter played the second boy to a tee, not really expected to work out, but just getting by. Jan was more driven, and probably felt relieved to be the fourth child. Bobby and Cindy were both the children whom did not grow up in some way.
Of course, growing up and sharing a bathroom with no toilet could have had a major affect on certain aspects of life.
