Pardon The Exposition

February 2nd, 2020 by

I am the soul person writing, drawing, coloring, and haphazardly editing Teen Spider Adventures, and before that Gorilla Fish. That is why I release a comic once a week. At that pace, it would have been ten years before Gorilla Fish covered the entire story arcs, I had outlined to cover. So I switched to Kid Spider Adventures, changed some story arcs, and aged him to Teen Spider.

When I first wrote, and still writing, the Universe Zero storyline, it was intended to be a Gorilla Fish endeavor. It still technically is a Gorilla Fish story, but I have graphed it onto Teen Spider Adventures.

A lot would have had to happen before I would release Universe Zero. Gorilla Fish would have travelled to multiple universes, there would be some familiarity to some of the characters introduced, etc.

Bagboy was intended to be a main character in the Universe Zero story. Now it is Teen Spider. When I rewrote Universe Zero, there was going to be some exposition. Since the plans that would have played out in Gorilla Fish did not happen. Gorilla Fish’s Evolution would have been a few panels, and it would have taken place in the BagBoy Universe. At that time, the villains would have separated into their own smaller alliances, and things would have been slightly different.

PinBot was going to be the main villain in Universe Zero to begin with, so I decided to have him explain how the multiverses work, and how he discovered a way to execute his nefarious schemes. Gorilla Fish was going to be the foil. I had to alter some of the story points a bit, but the overall story comes to a similar conclusion.

Universe Zero

October 20th, 2019 by

Today begins the first strip of one of the longest story lines I have written to date. As of this post I am still in the process of writing the story, and working toward the end.

Universe Zero reintroduces 2B-Bot, Death Swimmer, and Calamari from the original Gorilla Fish story lines. They have been absent since the Cigar Man story. Which ended the Gorilla Fish stories, and moved to Kid Spider.

Universe Zero explores the origins of the multiverse, ties story lines together, and will hopefully move things forward. The ending, will be a surprise. I know how this story line ends, just working toward that goal.

Please stick with me through the journey. Tell a friend, tell an enemy, thanks for stopping by.

GoT, Season 8, Episode 3

May 1st, 2019 by

In my previous post, I wrote about the first two episodes of Game of Thrones, and made predictions about how the Battle of Winterfell would play out. I gave either/or pairings of the main character, and odds of dying. Even predicted odds of some of the secondary characters that people were familiar with. I am humble, and I suck to some extent, but the season is only half over. The writers for Game of Thrones chose not to extend the battle against the Night King over two episodes, but chose to have an extra long episode, 82 minutes, to tell the tale.

arya

Based on everything I have read, it seems too anti-climactic. The Night King was the big super magical all powerful being whom loomed over the entire story of the show. Arya slew the Night King with a dagger, and that was that. Seems too God from a Machine, but logical to some extent. The Night King created all the wrights and other White Walkers, and if the Night King was destroyed, all his creations were destroyed.

Now instead of splitting the final six episodes into three distinct acts, the writers have chosen, major battle, reflection, and major battle, with wrap up approach. If the writers had taken the three distinct acts approach, all the Dothraki and Unsullied whom died would still be a distinct disadvantage for the heroes to take the throne from Cersi, but another dragon dying… Danny still has two dragons, which gives a very solid advantage to her. Even though Cersi might have numbers, 20,000 fried mercenaries aren’t going to be advantageous. The fourth episode will have some surprises, but the fifth episode will be the battle for the throne. The final episode will be how Westros settles under Danny’s rule. If Danny does rule?

Whom died? Not any major characters, just some secondary and tertiary characters. Even then, it was sparse.

Melisandre shows up, ignites the Dothraki swords, and ends of dead. Sort of committing suicide when she takes off her amulet, and just dies.

Jorah Mormont dies defending Daenerys. I predicted this, and his odds were high that he would die.

Theon Greyjoy died defending Bran. I thought he would die defending Sansa. His odds were high he would die, but he was not the wild card I thought he was.

Lyanna Mormont, well she was only a small part. Died killing a zombie ice giant.

Lord Beric Dondarrion, well, he was going to go at some point. From what I read, I am surprised it was not the Hound. There is still plenty of time for the Hound to die defending Arya. Too many people think he is going to live and possibly marry Sansa. Seriously? If he does make it to the end, Sansa might realize the Hound was the only guy who treated her right, and respected her. Maybe.

Viserion, the Ice Dragon. Once the Night King was destroyed, well, anything the Night King created was destroyed.

Game of Thrones has had its ups and downs. Unfortunately fan favorites tend to die in surprising fashion. Though, it seems like the bad guys eventually get what they deserve. If you think about it, good guys do die, but they are only minor to some extent. Even Ned Stark, Katheryn Stark, and Robb Stark, though fan favorites, and considered major good guys were only minor players in the overall Game of Thrones arc.

Looking back, Sansa & Arya were removed form Winterfell, then took two different journey’s home. It stands to logic that the two sisters were intended to live out the entire show. Danny was returning home to Westros, though she does not remember any of it. Jon Snow was removed from Winterfell, only to return.

Jamie, Tyrion, and the Hound were reprehensible to some extent, and now are serving a greater purpose. So, more than likely they will survive.

Return Point

Point-Tastic Story

Today starts a new chapter in the Teen Spider story. Back when Barstool Entertainment was publishing Gorilla Fish, there was the “Point-Tastic” story, in which a character called Point Man was introduced.

Point Man was created, like a lot of my characters, when I am just doodling on scrap paper, and suddenly, I have drawn a superhero. What is the name of the hero? What are their powers? Who is their primary villain? All kinds of questions.

If you read the “Point-Tastic” story, you know that Point Man remained in the Doctor Fantastic universe, because Point Man’s universe was destroyed. Then I began to think about the whole multi-verse concept, universes dying, merging, etc. I had created a universe to essentially die. The first page of the “Point-Tastic” story shows half a dozen characters, named later in the story, whom were dead. Never really existed.

I did want the events that happened in the Gorilla Fish stories to have an impact on the new Teen Spider story, since both take place in the same universe. Still calling it the BagBoy Universe, because BagBoy was the original character.

Since events that transpired in Gorilla Fish are impacting Teen Spider, I had written this big extra cosmic event, and thought about the consequences. What would happen? What could I do?

Gorilla Fish was a character from a universe I called, Universe II, and he emigrated to the BagBoy Universe. Just a hint at what might happen.

NEW CHARACTER

Ice Whip Dawn! She is another character I came up with while doodling. There is some sort of manga influence, though I cannot seem to draw manga very well. Her name gives some of her powers away, I just added the third word on to give it a more imaginative, manga flow. Sometimes the names of manga characters do not translate well, so people scratch their head, because the name and powers seem to not work well. Though the names are kind of catchy.

Ice Whip Dawn was intended to be a villain in the Point Man universe. When I created the Point Man universe, there was no real intent to destroy it, things just happened. She is now being introduced into the BagBoy Universe, as mentioned above, hint at what might happen.

Re-Branded

January 30th, 2019 by

Been missing some posts, because life is busy.

As I discussed or mentioned in previous posts (Here, Here), I am changing Kid Spider to Teen Spider, and as of now, the website, and all social media accounts are changed to reflect the change.

When I looked at things realistically, there were several stories I would have liked to tell with Kid Spider. Most of the time I try to keep the story lines contained to ten comic strips. So, ten comic strips equal ten weeks. This does not always work out.

Maintaining my current pace of one comic strip per week, it would have been at least five years in real world time for me to move Kid Spider to Teen Spider. With no actual birthdays planned in for the transition. One day Kid Spider would be Teen Spider, without too much explanation, except, five real world years passed. Gorilla Girl would be in college, BagBoy, and CardStock retired, and Helper Monkey, less predominant in the strip.

So, I decided to move things quickly, re-write some story lines, and essentially strip out a lot of clutter. Dimensional travel can be useful, and this will have an impact on the BagBoy Universe in the future. It already has in a way with Speed Bump, and now Teen Spider, but it will have more of an impact.

With the re-branding to Teen Spider, I can be more loose with my story telling. Yes, there are creative writers out there whom would chastise me for not being creative enough to keep Kid Spider flowing, but given certain aspects, I made the right choice for myself creatively. Remember, I created the universe and multiverse contained within the comic, so I know the best way to do things, at least for myself.

There are already stories I had written for Kid Spider that I am reviewing to rewrite to conform to Teen Spider. Until the Re-Branded story line finishes, my options are open. The next story line is written, but I may just substitute a different story line. Once I move forward in one direction, I do not go back or change things. It just means rewriting a story line to conform with the current continuity.

Since I have already introduced time travel and dimensional travel, continuity can be a relative concept. Look at how screwed up the Marvel and DC universe became. DC basically stripped out years of history, then redrafted it all later. Marvel, well, I have not paid too much attention, and from what a few friends have stated, I am better off.

Ultimately, this should all work out.
